Pressure injury prevention

People of all ages, including babies, are at risk of developing pressure injuries.

When you or are admitted, or if you have a baby who is admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a risk assessment  will be performed to determine if there is a risk of developing a pressure injury while in hospital.

If you or your newborn is found to be at risk of developing a pressure injury, staff may implement strategies such as regular turning regimes or frequent changes of position, re-positioning of medical devices, air or gel mattress, heel elevators or a dietitian review.
