Patient First Program

The Patient First program is a Department of Health initiative aimed at

The key messages of Patient First are included in a comprehensive booklet. The booklet contains 14 topics that will educate patients about how to be involved in all aspects of their health care. These topics include:

  • hand hygiene
  • safe use of medications
  • knowing your rights and responsibilities
  • safe surgery

Patient First brochures and booklets are available in KEMH clinics and ward areas. Information can also be downloaded from www.health.wa.gov.au/safetyandquality.
