KEMH is a Baby Friendly Accredited Hospital and aims to assist all patients to achieve their breastfeeding goals. The Breastfeeding Centre of WA is located at KEMH and provides support and advice to new mothers whose babies were born at the Hospital and who are having difficulty establishing breastfeeding. The Centre has been running for 10 years and is staffed by a team of dedicated lactation consultants who see up to 1,000 women each year. The Breastfeeding Centre can be contacted on 9340 1844.

Women who deliver outside of KEMH can visit their local Child Health Nurse for breastfeeding assistance and guidance. Child Health Nurses are listed under ‘C’ in the White Pages or can be found at www.health.wa.gov.au.
