| There were 103 deliveries at Kununurra District Hospital in 2009/2010, with 45% to Indigenous women. The unit has 2 delivery suite rooms and 3 obstetric beds and provides for low risk deliveries. It is reasonably well equipped for emergencies, including caesarean sections being performed in less than one hour timeframe. There are 5 DMOs providing obstetric services, along with a visiting obstetrician from Derby every 4-6 weeks, who has one elective theatre day. Patients may attend the hospital for all of their antenatal visits, or share care with AMS services, and then transfer to hospital services at 36 weeks gestation). The hospital antenatal clinics are a multidisciplinary team, with a DMO, midwife, dietician, physiotherapist, child health nurse and community midwife.
