2018 WA Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Award winners

2018 WA Excellence Award winners Christian Wright and Alison Jennings
May 14, 2018

King Edward Memorial Hospital had a wonderful night of celebrations on Saturday when Midwives Alison Jennings and Christian Wright were award winners at the WA Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards.
Alison was awarded the Excellence in Midwifery Award. Throughout her 27-year career, Alison’s background, skill and drive in operating theatres and infection control has led to a team-focused approach to safety in the midwifery practice at KEMH. The judges were particularly impressed with Alison’s commitment to changing culture, practice and compliance for better patient outcomes.
Christian was awarded the Graduate of the Year Award and is recognised by his colleagues and peers as someone who is able to quickly develop substantive with the women and their families and consistently enrich their birthing experience.  After graduating in 2015 Christian became the first male to work in Midwifery Group Practice in the Family Birth Centre and plans to work in remote Indigenous communities later this year.
We also acknowledge Senior Midwifery Research Fellow Lucy Lewis who was a finalist in the Excellence in Education and Research category.
