Placenta Accreta Service

Role of service

The WNHS Placenta Accreta Service is a multidisciplinary team providing antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care for women with suspected placenta accreta, percreta or increta in the current pregnancy.

The multidisciplinary team includes obstetricians, gynaecologists, MFM specialists, Imaging specialists, psychiatrists, vascular and urology surgeons, haematologist, blood scientists, anaesthesiologists, perioperative nurses and anaesthetists assistants with expertise in abnormal placentation.

The team is led by O&G Consultant at KEMH and operates over 2 sites (KEMH and QEII).

 

Clinical inclusion

Suspected placental accreta on ultrasound during the current pregnancy.

 

Frequency of clinic

Weekly.

 

Referrals to include

Include copies of ultrasound and details of relevant past obstetric history with the referral.

Include antenatal investigations for this pregnancy.

 

Urgent Referrals

Urgent referrals (ie Suspected placenta accreta with acute bleeding) to be discussed with the on-call Obstetric Consultant at WNHS at KEMH via (08) 6458 2222.

 

Referral process

Antenatal referrals are made using the KEMH Antenatal Referral Form (PDF) (or equivalent form / template).
