Pelvic mesh (transvaginal mesh) telephone line

King Edward Memorial Hospital encourages WA women who have concerns, complications or adverse side effects from the insertion of pelvic mesh (transvaginal mesh), to contact our dedicated telephone line on (1800 962 202) from 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday. After-hours telephone calls will go through to an answering service and will be responded to the next business day.

As well as providing a link to expertise and clinical services in WA, the contact line will help determine the magnitude of the problem faced in the state, as it is unknown how many women may have mesh-related symptoms.

The hospital will keep a record of all women seen at its specialist uro-gynaecology clinic or referred to their GP for follow-up. The type of care required will depend on the patient’s condition and complexity of symptoms.

A mesh register will also be established to record the use of pelvic and abdominal mesh.

These Frequently Asked Questions (external site) are designed to provide additional information about transvaginal mesh and have been developed by clinicians and women have experienced mesh-related complications.
