Preparing for a Gynae appointment
Preparation before a appointment
It is normal for women to experience some anxiety or concern before they go for their first gynaecology visit.
Before your appointment please maintain good hygiene but do not worry about the appearance of genital areas.
What to expect at a gynaecology appointment
Our health professionals will ask you questions about your medical, gynaecological and sexual history, as well as your lifestyle.
Disclose openly all the information and remember, whatever you discuss is kept entirely confidential and will assist us in providing the best suitable treatment options for your health condition. You are welcome to bring a support person along.
It may help to bring information about your menstrual cycle, contraception and medication and any other queries you may have.
If you require an examination
Often when you attend a gynaecology appointment an intimate examination will need to be performed and this is standard practice for any condition associated with your reproductive system. This will always be discussed with you at your appointment and your consent sought before any examinations take place.
