HIVE – Health in a Virtual Environment
East Metropolitan Health Service’s HIVE – Health in a Virtual Environment is Western Australia’s first inpatient remote monitoring service. This innovative service dramatically transforms how we care for our patients.
The HIVE, located in the EMHS Command Centre at Royal Perth Hospital, is staffed by clinical experts and provides 24/7 continuous monitoring of our most vulnerable patients.
The service is enabled by an artificial intelligence platform that detects the earliest signs of clinical deterioration. When an alert is generated, HIVE clinicians use a two-way audio-visual system to collaborate with staff on the ward, offering “a second set of eyes” to deliver consistently amazing care.
