Endoscopy Clinic

Role of service

This is a tertiary level service available at KEMH for women across WA requiring:

  • Treatment of endometriosis: medical, surgical and pain management.
  • Endoscopic surgery for menstrual disorders.
  • Advanced laparoscopic surgery for benign gynaecological conditions including fibroids, adenomyosis, ovarian cysts and adnexal masses.
  • All aspects of reproductive surgery.
  • Medical and surgical management of menstrual disorders.
  • Advanced surgical procedures with colorectal and urological input.
  • Hysteroscopic surgery for the management of reproductive tract abnormalities including uterine septa, polyps and fibroids.

 

Clinical inclusion

  • Women with diagnosed severe endometriosis requiring specialty management.
  • Benign gynaecological conditions requiring surgery.
  • Women requiring surgical management of subfertility.
  • Referrals are accepted direct from GPs or via the general gynaecological clinics.

 

Clinical exclusion

Gynaecological cancer – refer to WAGCS.

 

Referrals

Pre-requisite tests for all women:

  • Recent Cervical Screening Test (CST) (within past five years) if >25 yrs.
  • Copy of transvaginal pelvic ultrasound.

Referral to include:

  • Detailed medical history.
  • Details of previous laparoscopies, including copies of correspondence.
  • Clinical concerns.
  • Copies of relevant investigations.
  • Copy of CST results.

 

Referral process

All referrals from GPs to this clinic are sent to the Central Referral Service WA (CRS) (external site). Ensure you provide the relevant information in the referral to enable appropriate triage, including required investigation results and letters from treating medical practitioners if relevant and request endoscopy clinic at WNHS.

Referrals using GP software that include all the relevant history and information are also welcome using CRS referral form templates (external site).
